Descriptionthis diy video shows how to fix a rotten boat floor. the text book way of replacing the floor is to remove the consoles, seat boxes and remove all the original plywood floor.. Marine plywood is a great sheet material that can be easily cut using both hand saws and basic power tools. marine plywood is often used to build boat interiors and to replace flooring during boat renovations.. I am working on a boat restoration and had a question over boat floor coverings. i have spent a little time searching and haven't really come up with the answer i was looking for so i figure i'll give it a shot..
I replaced some of my floor about 10 years ago with the treated plywood. it did end up rotting. so i went to menards and ordered marine plywood. it was expensive but much less than the boat shops. hard to say if it any better but only time will tell. i did use all stainless steel screws to attach it down to the boat.. Thanks for the info. i have a second story floor that was carpet over plywood subfloor. the floor joists run lengthwise to the room, and we want to install a floating laminate floor. i understand that i should install a plywood layer over the original lay in order to enable the planks to be installed lengthwise.. Hello if you are laying any type of flooring over concrete you need to let the concrete breathe. use a dimple type plastic role, then plywood sub-floor like an osb product, then the flooring. it would also be a good idea to put an insulating layer between the dimpled plastic barrier and the osb plywood sub-floor, like a high density polystyrene.
