Lake union wooden boat festival at the center for wooden boats (cwb) on south lake union in seattle is an old-fashioned, down-home waterfront festival where everything is fun, nothing much is fancy, and almost everything is free.it’s as authentically grassroots american as you can get.. The lake union wooden boat festival celebrates the beauty and heritage of classic wooden watercraft. the festival features a variety of different vessels, and guests can travel by sail, oar, steam, electric or power boats.. Lake union is a freshwater lake entirely within the seattle, washington city limits and a major portion of the lake washington ship canal. its easternmost point is the ship canal bridge, which carries interstate 5 over the eastern arm of the lake and separates lake union from portage bay..
43rd lake union wooden boat festival – september 28th & 29th, 2019. in just 2 days of the festival, cwb hosted 5,200 attendees, exhibited 165 wooden boats, and had over 700 public sail participants! we couldn’t do any of this without the incredible work of our volunteers, community, and staff: thank you!.
