Last autumn i began to get some vibration at about 1200 revs but it would disappear after a burst of revs leading me to think it was just leaves around the prop. first trip out this year i am now getting a regular vibration at the same revs, no problem slower or faster. it also occurs in reverse.....
The drive system on my boat is a simple shaftdrive system with engine, gearbox and propshaft in line; there is no universal coupling or down angle gearbox in the drive system. could it be that one or both engines have settled on their mountings causing the propshaft to become non-concentric in the stern tube?. Sounds like there is way too much distance between the drive shaft bottoming out to the front pump thrust/shaft bearing (1/2"), and the vibration is coming from the spline of the shaft & driveline, a bad front shaft bearing will also sound like a v-drive/blower noise if bad..
